How Do You Build A Kitchen Cabinet Front?

Woodworking is such a joy for some homeowners. The ability to do a project from start to finish is most satisfying. Having the knowledge to build cabinets but not the face frames borders on disappointment. Since the face frames determine the size of the drawers and doors, this part of the cabinet building process is crucial to the overall look of the cabinets. Set the fence of the table saw to 24-inches. Rip the sheet of plywood lengthways to give you two pieces that measure approximately 24-by-96-inches. Set the table saw fence at 2-inches. Rip as many 2-inch strips as you can from one of the two 24-by-96-inch pieces from Step 1 (should be 11). Set the table saw fence at 1 ½-inches and rip three strips from the remaining plywood. Next, place three of the 2-inch strips and one of the 1 ½-inch strips on a table side by side. Measure from one end, mark all four pieces at 26-inches and cut them with the electric miter saw. These are the rails (horizontal pieces) for the cabinet face frame
