How Do You Build A Patio With Pavers?
After I had called a few contractors to build a 15-by-15 foot patio with pavers in my backyard, I decided to do it myself. The estimates ranged from $800 to $3,500 far more than my budget. I had never installed a patio before so I read about how to do it and took some free classes at the local hardware chain. Decide where you want your patio and then decide on a size and shape. If your patio will be next to your house plan to have it decline slightly away from the house for drainage about 1 inch for every 8 feet. Use the measuring tape to determine the patio size. Use the wood stakes and Mason’s cord to outline the shape and size of your patio. Square or rectangular patios are easiest to create and it’s easy to determine how many pavers are needed. I made my patio 15 by 15 feet or 225 square feet so I needed 225 12 by 12 inch pavers. I ordered 250 pavers in case I broke a few and I kept a few on hand as replacements.
