How Do You Build Small Snowboard Rails?
Snowboard rails are thin rails, usually metal, that snowboarders jump up onto and slide along with the bottom of the board flat on the rail. They are similar in concept to hand rails along stairs that skateboarders jump onto and slide down. Ski resorts typically make snowboard rails in terrain parks, but snowboarders can also build a small snowboard rail to use at home. Set a metal bike rack on a sloped area so one end of the rail along the top of the rack is slightly downhill from the other end. The rack should be at least 4 feet long. Fill sand bags with dirt and place them on either side of the bike rail to help support it and keep it standing up straight under weight and pressure. Also place bags on either end of the rail to create ramps for mounting and dismounting. Pile snow over all of the sandbags and pack it down. You should not have to jump up more than a foot to get from the top of the ramp onto the rail. Pile enough snow on the sides of the rail and on the ground in the are
