A percentage is a number out of 100. For instance, instead of saying it rained 10 out of 100 days, you can say it rained 10 percent of the time. It is commonly used as a way to compare quantities. Calculating differences simply means subtracting one quantity from another. It is not difficult to figure out either calculation if you follow a few simple steps. Identify two different values. Determine the difference between two values. Subtract value 1 from value 2. Walk through an example. For instance, if the two values are 4 and 10, then the difference is 10 – 4 = 6.
