Changing the filter is a relatively easy task. Locate your air handler unit. In most cases it will be in the basement, garage, closet or some other room in the lower portion of your home. It is usually tall and rectangular and will be labeled as a air handler unit. You can also use the handler unit make and model to order a new filter at your local home store. Unscrew the lower part of the handler using the flathead screwdriver to loosen the screws. Once you’re finished unscrewing the screws, the piece will pull or fall off. Take out the used filter.
