How Do You Compress Files For Email?

Most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have a limit on the size of an email message. If you are sending a large file, you will have to compress it before attaching it to the email. This is done using the zip utility. Windows users can compress, or zip, their files directly from the Windows Explorer file browser. They can also attach the compressed file to an email from Windows Explorer. Open “My Computer.” It will be found under the “Start” menu. Navigate to the folder that contains the file you want to compress. Right click on file that you want to compress. Choose the “Send To” option. Choose the “Compressed (zipped) Folder” option. This will create a new compressed file with the same name as the original file. Right click on the newly created file. Choose the “Send To” option. Choose the “Mail recipient” option. This will open a new email with the compressed file as an attachment. Complete the email and click the “Send” button.
