We’ll use this example 20° 41′ 38″ N It reads 20 Degrees 41 Minutes 38 Seconds Divide the Seconds by 60 38 divided by 60 = .633 Add the .633 to the Minutes 41 + .633 = 41.633 The Degrees stay the same so the GPS coordinate is 20° 41.633 N Now we’ll use an example where the Minutes change. 40° 68′ 92″ N 92 divided by 60 = 1.3529 (round up the 2 to get 1.353) 68 + 1.353 = 69.353 So our GPS coordinate is 40° 69.353 N Now we’ll use an exampble where the location is more closely pinpointed.
