How Do You Create A K-12 Curriculum Map?
Curriculum Mapping is the process of recording everything that is taught within a subject area or grade level and making sure that it is consistent with the rest of the teachers’ maps. Curriculum mapping is a way to make sure that all standards are being taught and there are no gaps when a student moves to the next level. Create a curriculum map for each subject area and grade level that you teach. If you teach the same grade level or subject area as another teacher you should do the curriculum mapping with him or her. This curriculum map is divided into columns that outline standards, assignments, resources and tests used for each unit taught in the subject area or grade level. Meet with your small group to review the group’s curriculum maps and provide feedback to the other teachers in the group regarding their curriculum maps.
