A spiral afghan is so unique looking it’s sure to get lots of compliments, but it’s surprisingly simple to crochet. This pattern will work with any type of yarn, in any color combinations you choose. The only limit is your imagination! Chain 4. Join with slip stitch to form a loop. Crochet 8 half double crochets into the middle of the loop. Do not turn! Keep going, working now into the first round of hdc. Work two hdc into each stitch – 16 hdc. Keep going, working now into the second round. Work two hdc into first stitch, then one hdc into each of next two. Go all the way around – 24 hdc. Move up a row, and work two hdc into first stitch, then one hdc into each of next three. Go all the way around – 32 hdc. About this time, you’ll realize there’s no longer any need to count stitches. Each row continues the same pattern, adding one more hdc between the sets of two. Your double stitches should be falling in the stitch prior to the double on the previous row. So as you continue crocheting
