Dating for African American women can be challenging. According to statistics, 42 percent of African-American women and 43 percent of African-American men ages 15 and over have never been married, compared with only 21 percent of White women and 27 percent of White men. This comes from the federal government’s 2004 American Community Survey. With such gloomy statistics, African American women need to take matters into their own hands. It’s time to be more creative in finding ways to date and find a potential partner. Let trusted friends and family know that you are available and interested in dating. Often, people that know you may be the best judge of potential partners. They may be able to introduce you to eligible single men. Socialize and go out with friends and even by yourself. You won’t meet anyone if you’re always at home. Get out and enjoy yourself. Visit bars, clubs, coffee shops, bookstores and other places you might meet a potential partner.
