Maybe someone burned out your SIMM card and you aren’t looking to upgrade your memory just yet, or you’re just feeling the need to know your computer’s specifications down to the jumpers. Either way, you need to crack the case open and peek inside your computer. Open the case, using anti-static precautions after turning off the computer. Different manufacturers make this process a best guess, so check your computer manual for the best way to go about it. Locate the motherboard. The motherboard is a big circuit board that’s exposed to the interior of the computer. The CPU rests on it, possibly concealed by a fan or a heat sink. There may be other circuit boards attached to it and a few wires that run from the power source to the motherboard. Determine where your memory slots are.
