How Do You Download Ubuntu 8.10 RC?
With the release of Ubuntu 8.10 “Intrepid Ibex”, a Linux operating system (an alternative to Microsoft Windows and Mac OSX), steadily approaching one can’t help but be curious what new features will be included! This short how to guide will advise you on how to get a head start in playing around with the new release! Download the ISO image. The first step is to download the ISO image. Open a web browser, like Firefox, and go to ubuntu.com and click the “Download the release canidate” link under the Ubuntu 8.10 Coming Soon title (See screenshot). This will take you to a page of download links. Choose the first link under the “Download” text. Now under “Desktop CD” click the “PC (Intel x86) desktop CD” link. A dialog box will pop up; choose to save the file. Save the file in an easy to find location such as your desktop. Burn the ISO image to a blank CD.
