You or someone you know has been arrested. Unless you have been down this road before, chances are you won’t know what to do to get them out. If you cannot pay cash for their bail, you need a bail bondsman to bail them out. Look in your phone book’s business pages for a bail bondsman. Write down or mark the bail bondsman you called, so you don’t forget. Call a bail bondsman and ask what their fee is. Usually you pay ten percent of your bail. Meaning if your bail is $1000, you pay the bail bondsman $100. Many bail bondsman have a fee minimum, usually $100, that they charge no matter what. Arrange for the bail bondsman to meet you at the jail. Let them know how long it takes you to get there and who they are bailing out of jail. Provide the required information such as your name, address, phone number, social security number and at least three references.
