An effective way to finish off your concrete driveway and add curb appeal to your property is with staining. This technique has become a popular choice of homeowners and is a relatively inexpensive do-it-yourself project that can be done in one weekend. Your driveway no longer has to remain a drab gray–with the right color to complement your house, your driveway will be the talk of the neighborhood. Measure the driveway with a measuring tape to get the square footage and purchase the correct quantity of stain and sealant from a local home improvement store. Buy enough for a minimum of two coats of stain and three coats of sealer. Prepare the driveway by first using a degreaser to remove any oil spots. Power-wash the driveway to remove all dirt, mildew and rust. Sweep the driveway thoroughly once it has dried.
