A garbage disposal is convenient for getting rid of food bits that would otherwise be smelling up your trashcan and adding to landfills. However, a garbage disposal can experience leaks, which can create a real problem beneath your sink. If you aren’t sure exactly where the leak in your garbage disposal is coming from, there are a couple of main places on a garbage disposal where leaks generally occur that you will want to check. Follow these steps to repair any problems. Step 1 Turn off the power to the disposal. A garbage disposal is electrical and you can get a shock if you work on it while it still has power. Step 2 Tighten the screws where the disposal meets the sink. There will be a plastic cover over the screws at the top of the disposal. Turn the cover to loosen and pull it down.
