Fortunately, fixing a diverter is a simple project that can be done at minimal cost without the help of a professional. Step 1 Examine the faulty diverter to find out how it is attached. Continue to Step 2 if the diverter is attached to the pipe with a screw. Continue to Step 3 if it is threaded onto the pipe. Step 2 Close the drain to avoid allowing the removed screw to fall into the drain.
