How Do You Fix Update Problems With Windows XP?
While Windows Update in Windows XP typically runs without any problems, some users do encounter occasional issues. These problems range from Windows Update ceasing to run at all to updates being incorrectly installed or downloaded but not installed. In nearly all cases, you can fix update problems with Windows XP by following a few simple steps that will solve the problem and prevent it from happening again in the future. Step 1 Click “Start” > “All Programs” > “Windows Update.” Step 2 Click the “Change settings” button on the left side of the screen that pops up. Step 3 At the bottom of the screen, click “Disable Microsoft Update software and let me use Windows Update only.” Click “Apply changes now.” Step 4 Click “Yes” when asked if you are sure you want to change the settings. Windows Update will then open. Step 5 Run Windows Update by clicking the “Run” button. Updates will then be downloaded and installed and your update problem should now been fixed.
