How Do You Frame Stained Glass Panels?
Stained glass can be a dramatic and charming addition to your home decor, adding warm color and artistic flair. A fun way to flex your creative muscles, stained glass also is a craft that can easily be mastered with a little patience and practice. The trickiest part of crafting stained glass is mastering the soldering technique used to frame the glass panels. Clean each glass panel thoroughly, then dry it completely. Lay the panels out in the formation in which they should be assembled. Line the frame of each glass panel with a thin layer of copper-backed wire. Apply flux to the wire with the applicator brush or paintbrush, slowly and evenly. Before you work with flux, protect yourself with work gloves and a cotton mask, because flux is a corrosive, deoxidizing chemical. Heat the soldering iron.
