A great wintertime escape just south of the border is river rafting in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. The mountains around Xalapa provide a number of different opportunities for great river rafting. Trips can be planned for any number of days and any skill level. There are several rivers to choose from–Rio Antigua, Rio Actopan and Rio Filobobos–as well as hot springs at Carrizal for a soak after rafting.
