How Do You Groom A Polish Lowland Sheepdog?
The Polish Lowland Sheepdog is a medium-sized herding dog. They are intelligent, upbeat and energetic. They are have incredibly good memories, are eager to learn and relatively easy to train. They have a double coat, with long, wiry hair on top and a softer undercoat. They need a full grooming every 4 weeks. The Polish Lowland’s double coat requires brushing every day or at least every other day to prevent harsh tangling and matting in the undercoat. Use a slicker brush, pin brush and natural bristle brush alternately as needed. Remove tough knots and matting with a mat rake and/or a splitter. If you allow mats to get bad enough, you may have to cut them out of the coat. Bathe when necessary. Always give the dog a good brushing and combing before the bath, as water causes the knots and mats to tangle even more. Blow dry the dog after bathing with a modern high velocity dryer.
