How Do You Grow A Magnolia Tree?

• Choose a suitable spot. If you want to grow a tall tree magnolia, ensure that there is plenty of space for it to grow. Magnolia will grow in both sun or part-shade. • If you want a smaller version, plant the variety known as “Little Gem” that grows 5 to 8 metres in height and 4 metres in width. • Prepare the soil. Magnolia likes good draining soil. The soil should be fertile deep down, and humus rich. • Water well. Magnolia should be watered frequently, especially as it is establishing itself. • Feed. Apply an acid fertiliser annually, every spring. Prune. As much as possible, allow the tree to grow naturally; it will look better. Prune only as needed. • Older trees can be rejuvenated by a good prune.
