The best way to handle a coworker who is rude, sarcastic, and unhelpful may be challenging for you, especially if you’re not familiar with it, but I guarantee that it will be highly effective. You are likely quite upset by your coworker’s behavior, and you probably have an idea in your head about how your coworker should behave. You need to let go of all these thoughts and feelings. Accept your coworker as-is, without making any statements about how they “should” act or about how their behavior is “wrong” or “unfair” or bad in any way. Find a way to do this no matter how egregiously disrespectful your coworker’s actions are. Now, when you’ve accomplished this, start looking for aspects of your coworker’s behavior that you like–and that are positive, helpful, respectful.
