A four-poster bed lends a regal, almost fairy-tale quality to any bedroom. However, not everyone has the luxury of having a grand four-poster bed that commands attention in the bedroom. Luckily, you can fake the appearance of a four-poster bed by strategically hanging curtains at specific points above your bed. The curtains also will give an added romantic touch that is less expensive than getting a brand new bed. Move a step stool next to the right side of your bed, step up and mark the ceiling roughly with a pencil where you want to screw in the brackets for each end of the curtain rod. Move the step stool and repeat this procedure for the foot of your bed and for the left side as well. The only place you won’t be screwing in a curtain rod is at the head of the bed.
