How Do You Import An Analog Hi8 To A Mac Computer Through A USB Port?
A Hi8 video camcorder uses a moving tape to capture video being shot. You can import the video from a Hi8 tape to a Mac computer through its USB port, providing you have a USB analog-to-video device. The USB analog-to-video device converts the video to a digital file on the Mac using software that comes with it. Setting up the USB analog-to-video device does not require any expertise with video file formats, nor will the Mac be damaged in any way by converting the video. Plug one end of the video cable into the video port on the Hi8 video camcorder. Plug the other end of the video cable into the video input of the USB analog-to-digital device, for example, the Roxio Easy VHS to DVD device (see the link in Resources). Plug the red and white RCA cables into the red and white audio ports on the Hi8 video camcorder.
