The AC97 is a computer sound device developed by C-Media. As with any piece of hardware, you need to install a specific computer program for your operating system to recognize your AC97. This program is an audio driver and it will have come packaged with the AC97 on a CD-ROM for easy installation. Insert the compact disc that came with your C-Media AC97 audio device into your computer’s CD-ROM drive. Wait for your operating system to recognize the compact disc and it will automatically load the disc’s software installation utility. Click “Install.” This will install the C-Media AC97 audio driver. You can use the indicator bar on screen to track the installation progress. Once the process is finished, you can remove the compact disc from your CD-ROM drive. Your C-Media AC97 audio device is now ready for use.
