How Do You Install A Ceiling Medallion?
Installing a ceiling medallion above a chandelier can bring formality to a room. Although you usually find ceiling medallions in foyers and dining rooms, you can also place them in bathrooms or bedrooms. Wherever you choose to hang a medallion, you will find that the process is easy and the look clean. If you plan to paint the medallion, do so before you install it. Cut off the power to the light fixture. Remove the escutcheon plate from the chandelier. Unscrew the wire nuts. Ensure that the power is off by placing a circuit tester on the exposed wires. Using a pair of pliers, open one of the links in the chandelier’s suspension chain. Take the chandelier down. Drill pilot holes in the medallion with a countersink bit so that the screw heads will not be visible when the medallion hangs. Thread the wires and chain through the hole in the center of the medallion with the decorative side facing the floor. Retwist the wires together to their position at the start of the installation.
