How Do You Install A Front Load Washing Machine Seal?
Leaks from around the door of a washing machine are usually caused by a damaged or defective seal around the door. You can easily install a new seal on your front load washing machine yourself. The seal is held on with sealant, a type of glue that ensures the seal is tight. Some makes and models do not use sealant glue; they use metal or rubber bands to hold the seal in place. The bands should be reusable, but if they appear damaged, you can order more from the manufacturer. Look in your owner’s manual or study the current seal to see how it is attached. If it is attached with bands, there will be one or more spaced around the seal. Remove them following manufacturer’s instructions. Pull the seal from the door rim. For seals that are attached with sealant, you may need to slide a finger under the end and push it up while you pull it free with the other hand. Wash the area thoroughly with a degreasing cleanser. This will remove all traces of dirt, grime and old sealant around the area.
