In the gas-line system, there is a shut-off valve that is installed directly behind the dryer to give the user immediate access to shut off the flow of gas should there be a problem. The valve is a simple lever that turns two directions (on or off), and connects the main gas line to the gas fitting on the rear of the gas dryer. Locate the main shut-off valve on top of the supply tank. It will be labeled with a tag. Turn the lever to the off position. Wipe the male fittings on the rear of the gas dryer and the gas feed line to remove any debris or grime that may be present. Use a flashlight to carefully inspect the threads on each fitting to ensure they are not damaged or bent. If there is visual evidence of a damaged fitting, contact a licensed gas technician to replace the fittings. Apply a coat of sealant to each male fitting with a 1/2-inch brush.
