How Do You Install A Wall Control For A Ceiling Fan?
Operating a ceiling fan via wall switch is more convenient than having to use the fan’s chain. Adding a switch to an existing circuit is a very easy improvement that involves little more effort than installing a switch in the wall and threading wire across the ceiling from the switch to the fan. In this circuit, the power first comes into the fan and then into the switch. This configuration is best when the wiring for the fan is already in place. Cut the power to the circuit where you will be working. Make the cuts in the wall where you will be installing the switch. Use the switch box as a template for the wall cut. Cut a small hole where the ceiling meets the wall above the switch to make threading the electric cable easier. Remove the fan from its mounting and disconnect the wires. Run the wiring for the switch. At the small hole, thread fish tape across the ceiling to the fan’s junction box. Attach electrical cable to the fish tape and pull it back toward the small hole.
