Installing a wall that includes a French door could be the answer. A large space can be divided into two distinct areas, one for entertainment and one for office space, for example. If the door has lights, natural light can be transmitted from one side to the other, and with the doors in the open position the space is reunited. Individual situations vary widely, but a typical French door wall installation involves a standard room 12 feet wide with a ceiling at 8 feet. Locate the wall by measuring equal distances from an existing wall and snapping a chalk line on the floor. Plumb up from this line on both walls to the ceiling, and snap a line between these two points. If the ceiling joists run perpendicular to this line, attach the top of the wall to them. If they are parallel, remove drywall as needed to install blocks between the joi
