How Do You Install Three-Way Dimmer Switches?
Replacing your current toggle light switch with a 3-way dimmer switch will help you cut down on energy costs because you can dim the lights when appropriate for the room. You should be able to replace your toggle switch within an hour. Most hardware stores have a variety of dimmer switches for you to choose from. Step 1 Turn off the circuit breaker to the electrical outlet where you will install your dimmer switch. Step 2 Remove the screw mounting the switch’s face plate to the wall. Pull the face plate off. Step 3 Remove the two retaining screws that secure the switch to the junction box. Step 4 Label each wire with a piece of masking tape to indicate where it connects. Loosen the terminal screws on the switch to remove the wires from the switch. Step 5 Strip off 1/4 inch of insulation from the ends of the wires that were connected to the toggle switch.
