How Do You Know The Types Of Clouds On Weather Maps?

0

Weather forecasting is a difficult process. One of the first steps in weather prediction is to gather data from weather stations all around the country. Once a station reports data, it is reported in a station model format. While understanding weather map symbols is a multi-step precess, one area that can be easily understood is the types of clouds seen in the sky. On a station model, the types of clouds are reported above and below the sky cover symbol (center circle). There are 27 basic classifications for cloud observations. Go to the cloud symbols chart for an image of each cloud symbol as well as a link to a real picture and explanation of the different low, middle, and high clouds. Comments (1)See All Posts
