How Do You Maintain An Odor-Free Front Loading Washer?
I will show you how to prevent odors caused by mold, mildew, and bacteria in your front-load washer. Remove laundry from the machine immediately after washing, as warmth and moisture promote mold and bacterial growth. Rotate the drum by hand to ensure no clothing is “pinned” to the top of the drum. Wipe down drum gasket, inside and out. Look for and remove small items (such as coins, hairpins, socks, etc.) which may have lodged in there. Dry off the see-through plastic door bubble. Remove the product dispenser, drain it of water, rinse, and wipe it down. Let it air-dry. Leave the washer door ajar to air-dry interior. Once a week, wipe the inner and outer surfaces of the drum gasket and the product dispenser housing with a dilute mix of bleach and water. Disassemble the product dispenser. Wash the parts with the bleach and water mixture. Rinse all with plain water. Once a month, run the “Cleaning Cycle,” as recommended in your Owner’s Manual. The cycle uses hot water and bleach.
