How Do You Maintain, Repair And Paint Exterior Wood Trim On Homes?

0

A lot of older homes still have exterior wood trim around doors and windows that needs to be maintained. Inspecting for damage and repainting periodically will add years of life to your home’ s exterior. Visually inspect the exterior trim for cracks, holes around windows, and damaged or rotted wood. Sand down any rough edges or water damaged areas. Replace any rotted wood. Caulk around any cracks, seal any holes and allow this to dry. Once the wood is completely dry, cover any areas that you do not want painted such as window glass or doors. Apply one coat of primer. Allow to dry thoroughly. Apply one to two coats of the acrylic latex exterior house paint.
