How Do You Make A Boot CD Using Files?
Losing your Windows installation disc can cause major problems if you don’t have the foresight to make a backup boot CD from files available online. If your PC crashes or does not turn on, you can start your machine from the disc and use the Recovery Console to repair your computer. Creating such a boot CD from files may be a lifesaver one day, making it possible to diagnose and fix a computer problem before you need drastic repairs. Step 1 Download the Recovery Console ZIP file archive at http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/repair_xp.htm. To do so, on the web page that loads click the link marked “How to create a bootable CD to access the Recovery Console.” It is located about halfway down the links list at the top of the page. Step 2 Unzip the downloaded archive. Many free programs will do this, such as the popular WinZip. A new window will open containing an ISO file, which is a disc image.
