How Do You Make A Handprint Poem Project?
Even the least sentimental parent can’t help but feel a little choked up when reading a poem about the love of her child, complete with his handprints. For years to come, these simple pieces of paper, lovingly created by a young child, will be treasured by his parents. Locate a copy of a sentimental poem from a child to his parents. (Check the resource section for a link to one that I wrote a few years back.) Be sure you have the right to photocopy it, and be sure to include the name of the poet. Cut it out ahead of time or draw lines around it and have the child cut it out himself. Roll white paint on the child’s hands, then help him press his hands down onto colored paper. Or, use colored paint on a piece of white paper. Glue the handprint poem in a conspicuous place near the handprints. Further trim the paper, if desired. Include the child’s name, age, and the date of the handprints. Place them either on the front or on the back. Laminate and/or frame it to make it last a lifetime.
