If you have ever wanted to make your own hunting knife, now is as good a time as any. You can easily purchase a knife kit for next to nothing and make a high-quality knife that will last for years to come. If you can use a band saw and do a little sanding, then you can complete these steps with ease. Purchase a standard knife making kit (see resources below). This will come with a blade and wood that you can use to make the handle for the knife. Buy a blade to size and make as desired. A larger blade is suggested for making a hunting knife. Open the kit and remove the wood and the blade. Take the blade hilt and trace it on both pieces of wood. Use a band saw to cut the pieces of wood along this tracing to fit the blade. Go slowly, and try to get a clean cut. Take the wood to a belt sander and round the edges to the grade desired. Form the hilt so it will fit comfortably in your hand.
