How Do You Make A Memory Tote Bag?
After a loved one passes away, we try to keep his memory alive. Some women can’t bear to give away their husband’s clothes. Others keep one article of clothing. After my husband died, I sorted his clothes: good enough for some needy men, too worn out and only good enough for the trash bag. I kept his favorite red plaid shirt to line a tote bag. Measure the outer bag fabric and lining to the desired size of the bag, allowing for front and back and 1/2″ seam allowance. Cut the lining so that you have two separate pieces. Fold the outer bag fabric in half, right sides together, and stitch the side seams. Sew the lining side seams, leaving both top and bottom open. Turn the outer bag right side out. Slip the lining over the bag, with right sides facing. Stitch along the top. Turn the lining into the bag. Either hand stitch or machine stitch the bottom of the lining together. Decide whether you want one handle or two handles. Cut a piece of the heavier fabric to the desired size of the hand
