How Do You Make A Wheelchair Tote Bag?

0

Make a handy tote bag to attach to the arm of a wheelchair. The straps attach with Velcro, so it can be easily taken off the chair and carried elsewhere. It also could attach to a walker. The finished size of the tote bag is 16 inches wide by 8 inches tall. This is appropriate for most wheelchairs, as it goes across the side of the chair without interfering with the operation of the wheels. Cut two pieces of fabric, both 10 inches by 17 inches, for the main body of the tote bag. Cut two pieces of fabric, both 3 inches by 12 inches, for the straps. With the right sides of the fabric together, pin together the two main tote-bag pieces. Using 1/2-inch seams, sew three sides, leaving one long side open. This is the top of the tote. Turn the bag right-side out. Make a hem at the top of the tote by folding under 1/2 inch and then 1 inch. Sew down. Fold under 1/2 inch on all sides of straps. Press. With wrong sides together, fold straps in half lengthwise, press. Topstitch around straps close
