These simple bookmarks are comprised mainly of vintage typewriter keys. The bookmarks are easy and quick to create; make one for yourself and a favored friend. Spread out the typewriter keys to see the letters that are available to work with. Choose the typewriter keys you want to use in your bookmark and then select the type of twine or cording. Typewriter keys have 4 holes evenly spaced on the sides of the keys; this is where they were attached to the typewriter. Locate the holes. Now, to make either bookmark, cut a length of twine or cording to 18″. Fold in half. Begin stringing the typewriter keys using separate sides of the twine or cording and crossing through the 4 holes in an X shape underneath the key. This X manuever will ensure the key stays in place. Continue threading the typewriter keys. When you’ve finished, loop both sides of the remaining cording into a knot just under the last key. Choose 2 beads – one for each “tail” of the bookmark.
