CREAMY, DELICIOUS FROSTING! This is my recipe for wedding, birthday, and other cakes! FOR WEDDING CAKE, SEE MY LARGE ICING RECIPE ARTICLE! I use three different vanilla flavorings for a unique icing taste! If these are not available to you, you can use any one vanilla instead of 3 as a substitute. I use certain brand ingredients to obtain a unique taste. I realize these particular brands may not be available in your area. You can try other brands and flavors to create your own special flavor of frosting such as French vanilla flavoring or a drop of lemon flavoring. In a LARGE bowl or container, combine shortening, margarine(optional), salt, and flavorings. Add 1/2 cup cool water to the bowl of ingredients. Beat in 2 pounds confectionary powder sugar. Beat on high for several minutes until smooth and creamy. If too dry, add 1 tablespoon of water at a time to obtain the consistency you prefer. Frost your cakes or refrigerate until ready to use.
