How Do You Make Capoeira Berimbau?
A berimbau is a traditional musical instrument from Brazil, widely used in capoeira, a dance-like Brazilian martial art. The construction of berimbau is not complex, and if you are a practitioner of capoeira or simply interested in Brazilian culture, you can make one in your own home with only a few tools and basic materials. Cut a large stick for the main body of the berimbau. Ideally, the stick should be around an inch in diameter, 5 feet long, as straight as possible, and have few branches coming off of it. Strip the bark off of the stick, cut and sand off any branches it may have, and dry it on a flat surface in a warm, dry place. Drying may take several weeks, over which time the stick will acquire a slight curve. Cut a circle of thick leather the same diameter as one end of the stick. Attach it to the end of the stick using leather cement or finishing nails. If you use nails, hold the stick with both ends pointing toward you and place the nails on the far left and right sides of
