Your family will love this breakfast egg casserole and will ask you to make it all the time – but it is awesome for Christmas morning. Cook sausage well and drain well. Set aside. Cut bread into cubes or small pieces. Set aside. Melt butter and pour into the pan you plan to bake this in-preferably a 9x13x2 pan. Put bread pieces in bottom of pan over butter. This is the bottom layer of your breakfast egg casserole. Sprinkle sausage over bread. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over sausage-covering sausage well. This is the middle layer of your breakfast egg casserole. Mix remainder of ingredients for casserole and pour over the top of bread, sausage and cheese. Cover and refrigerate for 8-9 hours. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Insert toothpick in middle to make sure it is done.
