You will need to know how to assemble these materials to create a useful bookshelf. Use your level to find a suitable (level and even) surface for your bookshelf. Hold the level across the floor in areas around the room until you find a level space. Homes settle, and can create unlevel floors. Lay a wooden plank across the area and place a cinder block at each end. Stand the blocks up longways, if you want a tall shelf on that level, or lay it sideways for a shorter opening.
