How Do You Make Etched Glass?
It’s simple and fun to create your own etched glass. You can use any inexpensive glass vase or bowl, and create personalized designs to suit your decor. You can also create personal and unique gift items, without breaking the bank. Select the item you want to etch, and clean it with warm, soapy water. Dry thoroughly. Outline the area that you wish to etch with vinyl tape. Rub the tape with your fingernail so that it is sealed completely. Next, decorate the etching area with the vinyl letters or decorative items. Again, rub the vinyl decorations so that there are no air bubbles or pockets. Cover your work area with newspaper, and use gloves. Paint on the etching cream with the paint brush. Let the cream sit for the amount of time listed on the manufacturer’s instructions. Rinse the cream off of the item in a stainless steel bowl or sink. Etching cream can damage the glaze on porcelain surfaces. Remove tape, and wash item thoroughly.
