How Do You Make Rickrack Braid Crafts Embellishments?

Rickrack was a popular way to embellish fabric crafts in the 1940s and 1950s, and even into the 1960s. It has become popular again, and we remember a few fun crafty uses for rickrack from years ago. We used to braid two pieces and three pieces of rickrack for a braid decoration for aprons and crafts. Here’s how we made rickrack braid for crafts embellishments. Wash the rickrack before braiding. Remove the rickrack from the original card and wash it in a bowl, then let it dry flat on a towel to shrink it, so it will not pucker your crafts project. If it fades, wash it again in vinegar until it no longer fades. Make two-part braid. Find the middle of the rickrack and make a loop around your finger or pin it to a flat piece of cardboard. Twist one piece around the other and make sure it stays flat. You should start to see a flat braid form. Continue with this process for the length of the rickrack to complete a long piece of rickrack braid for a crafts project. Your length of rickrack bra
