Greyston Bakery was founded in 1982. Later that decade, Ben Cohen of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream company agreed to purchase Greyston Bakery brownies for chocolate fudge brownie ice cream. Greyston Bakery is the sole supplier of brownies for Ben & Jerry’s. Greyston Bakery Brownies * 8 oz. Good-quality chocolate (we use Belgian for Do-Goodies, but Ghirardelli or Scharfenberger will do) * 1 cup Butter * 5 Eggs * 3 cups Sugar * 1 tbs. Vanilla * 1-1/2 cups Flour * 1 tsp Salt * 2-1/2 cups Walnuts, toasted (optional) * 1 Paper Doily * Confectioners Sugar for dusting Preparation: • Preheat oven to 375 degrees • Grease a 9 x 13 pan • Melt chocolate and butter in a saucepan over low heat • Set aside • In a mixer, beat eggs, sugar, vanilla and peppermint at high speed for 10 minutes • Blend flour and salt into chocolate until mixed • Stir in the nuts, if using • Pour into prepared pan.
