How Do You Mix A Manhattan Cocktail?
The Manhattan may be the most popular of all the mixed drinks!! A cocktail made with whiskey, sweet vermouth, ice, and bitters. It has been coined the drinking man’s cocktail because it is strong, sophisticated yet simple. It is the king of cocktails. Here is how to make it! Clean out your cocktail shaker. Add 6 parts rye (3 oz.) to your shaker. You can substitute the rye for Bourbon or Tennessee. Add 2 parts sweet vermouth (1 oz.), and Dash Angostura bitters. Leave out the cherry for now. Add the crushed ice to the shaker. Shake well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Add the cherry as a finisher/garnish. Yum! The Manhattan has many variations. Some of them include: – A SoCo Man, also known as the Southern Comfort Manhattan (SoCo instead of rye, and dry vermouth instead of sweet) – A Dry Manhattan is made with dry vermouth (won’t be as sweet) – A Perfect Manhattan has both sweet and dry vermouth, but in equal amounts. – A Brandy Manhattan has brandy in place of rye.
