How do you play the card game Speed?

• Deal each player a hand of five cards. • Place four piles of cards face down in between the two players. The piles on either edge should have five cards in them, and the inside two piles should have one card each in them. • Split the deck in half and give each player one half. This is called the draw pile. • At the same time, both players flip over the middle two cards. • On each of the cards, you can place a card of one higher or one lower value (i.e. on a nine you can place either a ten or an eight). You can place as many cards as you want to at a time, and you do not have to wait for the other player to place a card down before you. • You can only have five cards in your hand at a time, and when you put a card down, you draw another one from your draw pile. • When (if) both players get stuck (if they both can not play any cards), then both players flip over a card from the edge piles onto the two center piles and continue playing.
