How Do You Prune A Higan Weeping Cherry Tree?
The Higan weeping cherry tree is a wonderful tree for shade and landscaping. In the spring it blooms with heavy falls of white or pink blooms and green, glossy leaves. The leaves darken throughout the summer and turn golden yellow in the autumn just before the tree goes dormant. Three seasons out of four, this tree is a beautiful addition to any landscape. The rounded, drooping branches also make a fine place for a small picnic table or some garden benches. This tree can grow to be 30 feet tall with a 15 to 25 foot branch spread. It likes full sun and grows rapidly when kept moist in fertile soil. Unless you see evidence of pests or disease, the Higan weeping cherry needs little care. However, due to its drooping branches it is susceptible to mildew which can attract insects and make your tree more susceptible to diseases. Proper pruning will avoid this problem. Examine your tree from the underside. Look for branches that are less than three inches apart and branches growing perpendicu
